What is the Pantone Colour of the Year and what does it mean for your event?

Pantone is the renowned authority on colour with a system for identifying and matching colours, as well as communicating them.

Each colour has a specific colour, making the translation of colours simple and easy. In terms of services such as table linen hire, we regularly look to Pantone for inspiration on colours and colour matching, as well as their Colour of the Year - a well-regarded indicator of colour trends for the year ahead.

Pantone sees their Colour of the Year as a snapshot of mood, attitude and culture relating to the time at hand.

Rose Quartz & Serenity

This year, Pantone’s Colour of the Year went to not one but two colours: Rose Quartz and Serenity (Pantone 13-1520 and 15-3919). This blend represents the softer tones that are creeping into colour schemes, with Pantone citing a need for calm, away from the stresses of modern life, as their inspiration.

Those looking for event linen hire in Essex, may want to replicate this look with colours such as Light Pink and Duck Egg, and mixing them with mid-tone colours such as purples, browns and greens — or absolutely any shade of pink or yellow.

2015’s Colour of the Year was the delectable Marsala (Pantone 18-1438) — an earthy red that was seen as enriching, healthy and seductive. Burgundy in the Simply Linens Georgian Range is a close alternative, and works beautifully with neutral shades as well as golden yellows, amber, vibrant greens and vivid blues, creating a sunny, warm, Mediterranean feel.

Radiant Orchid

A popular shade for weddings, 2014’s Colour of the Year was Radiant Orchid (Pantone 18-3224), a vibrant purple shade designed to intrigue and inspire. People looking to use this colour, may well be served looking for a mix of shades, combining Lilac and Purple with pinks, turquoises or even yellows.
